Well apparently I needed a little break from this space. I just couldn't find the energy needed to sit down and compose a post. Our lives have been filled with home improvements, baseball, sewing, baseball, gardening, baseball and more baseball. We are all enjoying the season and the Little can't wait until it is his turn. Believe it or not we are already having to start thinking about fall football with 5th grade evaluations happening over the next 2 weeks.
We are making our first excursion to the lake this coming weekend and our first camping trip is scheduled for the following weekend. School ends on the 9th and the older can't wait for the official start of summer. Although, the humidity we are feeling now reminds us that it really has already started (with hardly a spring to mention).
In anticipation to the summer season my mom and I did some marathon sewing days and created 12 new Messenger Market and Out & About Bags for the shops. Despite some sewing machine problems (we finally ended up using my back up machine - a Singer from the early 80s - it worked like a dream) we were able to get them finished and really like how they turned out. It was good companionship time for the both of us to spend that time sewing. She reminded me that we have been sewing together for over 40 years - since before I was even born. There are many more sewing years to come as well! We work very well together and I think the product we turned out is testament to that. Here are some pics of our favorites. I will post more when I take them at Exit 55 Antiques in Fergus Falls. These are the ones that are in Weekend Cottage Antiques in Clear Lake.

| Above and below is the Flowers & Toile Out & About Bag. The highlight of this bag is the use of the vintage dresser on the front of the bag. The other half of the dresser scarf, which has no embroidery but a lace edge, was used as the inside pocket. The rest of the bag was made from remnants (I RARELY buy fabrics off the bolt - I am drawn the the remnant bins) of new fabrics specifically selected to bring out the beauty of the vintage embroidery. |

| I started this "Carrots & Blueberries Out & About Bag" awhile ago and just finally finished it by adding the straps. This is one of my favorite bags. The front is composed of a piece of a vintage tea towel, strips of vintage feedsack, a recycled denim skirt and vintage buttons. The rest of the bag is made up of more of the recycled denim skirt and a piece of remnant new fabric. It is a wonderfully fun sturdy bag just right for a summer jaunt! |

| This is the "Summer Harvest Messenger Market Bag". It is made from a vintage luncheon tablecloth, vintage trim and fabric from my mom's stash. Perfect for a trip to the Farmer's Market! |

| I made this bag awhile ago but really wanted better pics of it cause I LOVE IT! It is also in Weekend Cottage in Clear Lake and home someone buys it who will love it as much as I do. It is smaller Project Bag and was made from a vintage piece of sheeting, a piece of a tea towel (the swan) and vintage rick rack. I just love it and think it would be great stuffed with a knitting or embroidery project for a trip to the lake or a summer concert at the park! |

| The "Bountiful Berries Out & About Bag" is made entirely of vintage materials. The exterior is a vintage feedsack and the interior is an old red and white checked tablecloth. Even the rick rack is vintage. Great for a trip to the flea market or weekend antique sale. Sure to draw comments from other lovers of vintage! |

| The "Swirls & Fruit Messenger Market Bag" (SOLD) is also made entirely of vintage materials with an old tablecloth as the exterior and a vintage feedsack as the lining. I just wish I could have found the perfect embellishment for the outside! It is the perfect size for a trip to the market though and cute as is! |
