A Little Denim A Little Frill
I have been planning on making this little apron for quite some time and yesterday I finally buckled down and did it! And I LOVE it! The ruffle is a remnant of some fabric from my mom, the body of the apron is the butt of a pair of my oldest's old jeans (they wouldn't live on to the next boy - VERY holey knees), the tie is the waist band and ties from a vintage apron and the flower on the pocket is vintage lace and a vintage button. All things I had on hand! I immediately dug through my stashes and found items to make 2 more. That is my afternoon project. I can't wait!

A Great Easy Project For Fall - Mini Rag Ball Acorns
I love collecting acorns and wanted to come up with a new, creative way to use them. And then it hit me. Make mini-rag balls. It worked like a charm. All I did was cut 1/4" wide strips of fabric (great use of leftover fabric) and rolled them into little rag balls. I then hot glued them into the acorn cap. So easy and so fun!!!
A New Creation For A New Endeavor
My newest creation for a new endeavor that I am starting (more on that as we get closer to opening day). These are Jam Tart Pincushions. I used old jelly molds as the bases and vintage fabrics and buttons for the inserts. They are Sour Cream Raisin, Mixed Berry and Summer Berry.
The ones below are my favorites. I used old crocheted pot holders or doilies as the main element. I think they turned out great. The ones below are Boysenberry, Coconut Cream and Raspberry Cream.

School Has Started - My Days Since In Pictures
Banana bread baking
My oldest is back in school (4th Grade - how did that happen!) so my little and I are trying to get back in a groove. We have been filling our days. Washing dishes, baking, preserving, dyeing and sewing as well as cleaning have all fallen somewhere into our days. Tomorrow...squirreling away for winter...

And The Hunting Season Begins...
My husband is an avid hunter and every year goes out on the quest for duck, geese and deer. I started going along in the last couple years. Instead of carrying a gun though I carry a camera and even though we hunt the same spot every year the scenery is always changing. The solitude and stillness is calming and I always leave feeling a little closer to the Earth and it's Creator. Here are a few pictures from this first trip.
A Homemade Birthday Present
My youngest was invited to his very first birthday party - the party was for one of his little friends at church who is the youngest of 4 girls. While we couldn't attend the party we wanted to make sure that we made her a present that was individually hers. Here is what we made: homemade heart-shaped crayons (using broken crayons), a homemade blank book using supplies I already had on hand and a homemade bag using fabrics from my stash. With Grandma's help making the crayons and the book I think we turned out a lovely, homemade and inexpensive (FREE) birthday present. This is definately an idea I will use again!
