I end up with more stuff that takes longer to leave my house but they both have a good eye. This weeks finds for the boys included a couple things on their lists...a catchers mitt (worth $75 that I paid $8 for) and a soccer ball (.50). A video game, books and Zoobles rounded out their purchases.<div><br></div><div>Here are some others that I was rather excited about...</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2PP6q_IGAZacJQC4orFnIpIjn6wPSj2CIfiGwH70wJCo3pSo9oqNAUbEZYreuNsLwTio1NPdzKV2fakSaDpvDydd7qgAoVekF0grRHz-pvRf0WWK1AMaKrVqcpRJ31tfcWGJew5riaYAs/s640/blogger-image-1644541734.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2PP6q_IGAZacJQC4orFnIpIjn6wPSj2CIfiGwH70wJCo3pSo9oqNAUbEZYreuNsLwTio1NPdzKV2fakSaDpvDydd7qgAoVekF0grRHz-pvRf0WWK1AMaKrVqcpRJ31tfcWGJew5riaYAs/s640/blogger-image-1644541734.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">My 6 year old spotted this awesome handmade paddlebat. We live just a mile from the Mississippi where these kinds of boats still travel. A fabulous find! Gonna be hard to get it out of the house :). Stay tuned for the big announcement!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-65997497532220412392013-04-17T13:29:00.002-05:002013-04-17T13:29:41.843-05:00Studio HappeningsAfter realizing that market season is fast approaching and I had no new items to bring, I recently got really busy in the studio. The last two days have been quite productive - pin cushions made from a vintage quilt that had seen better days, yo-yo barrettes from vintage and reproduction vintage fabrics and a few new pin cushions using vintage containers.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lots of fabulous spring colors on the table - much needed since we have another 6 inches of snow in our foreseeable forecast...(Groundhog seriously lied!!!)</td></tr>

<br />
I also had a special order from a friend for some play food and I finished that up today. I also am knitting some produce bags for the start of market. One of the other vendors at the market sells organic produce and I thought they would be a nice tie-in. I also have a special order knitting order to work on that needs to be finished in the next week or two - matching hats for the photographer I knit for - she will be photographing twin boys soon. I also need to get a few new bags created. Don't really want to go to market with the same stock as last year. There are many regulars there so I want to keep in mind that they are going to want to see something fresh. Add to this the standing order for dog lead bags and the horse show magnets I have been commissioned to make, I have enough to keep me busy :)!<br />

I finished another hat for my photographer friend. This is the Sherlock hat. I found it on Ravelry (will include the link once I am on my computer and not on the Blogger app on my iPad). It was a fun, easy and fairly quick knit. <br />
<br />
I also found a new series of books that have held my attention (in fact, maybe a little too much :) ). It is the Jefferson Tayte genealogical series by Steve Robinson. I am on #3 and have loved each one. They each have taken place in England (which I love) and each deals with a genealogical mystery. The bits of history are interesting and the mystery keeps you guessing. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikobUN7fCHXAU-J5KnUl3Xz84BYnPRBvvWzrw-7pS12bQfBPh93gr9wPlLsgVAp-B5OTd3c4V74YIYGBUy3OMeuktzJwxr4YphYHShuCl4W8gSIbt-jGn_UlqUFfFbRxNlpzPGELgH9Y4N/s640/blogger-image--1199000401.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikobUN7fCHXAU-J5KnUl3Xz84BYnPRBvvWzrw-7pS12bQfBPh93gr9wPlLsgVAp-B5OTd3c4V74YIYGBUy3OMeuktzJwxr4YphYHShuCl4W8gSIbt-jGn_UlqUFfFbRxNlpzPGELgH9Y4N/s640/blogger-image--1199000401.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-6408978687148168942013-03-27T19:56:00.001-05:002013-03-27T19:58:32.189-05:00Knitting & Reading<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I haven't joined in with <a href="http://www.gsheller.com/">Ginny's</a> Knit Along in quite sometime. I have been knitting but haven't documented a lot of it. Lately I have been working on a couple hats for a photographer friend to use in her newborn photographs. These are the latest two. The top one I just knit freehand with some leftover yarn I had around (lots of camo yarn around this house full of boys). The bottom hat I used a pattern I found on Ravelry. It is the "Rib Knit Baby Hat" by <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/jennifer-sauselein"><span style="color: black;">Jennifer Sauselein</span></a> of Sorella & Company. It was an easy knit and I love the addition of the little wooden tree buttons. I have had them forever and loved finding a use for them.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As for reading, well there hasn't been a lot of that...every time I lay down in bed to read at night, I get about 3 pages read and am out like a light. Lots that I want to read but just can't keep my eyes open to read it. Still trying though...</div>

One of my childhood favorites is "Chicken Huntington". My mom usually made it after Thanksgiving when leftover turkey was in abundance. It was a HUGE favorite in our house. It is also one of my 20 year old nephew's favorite and my Mom regularly makes it when he visits. Tonight my Little was my sous chef andI loved making memories with him using a favorite from my childhood.<br />
<br />
Chicken Huntington <br />
(I regularly double it)<br />
<br />
1 7-oz. box macaroni<br />
1 1/2 c. cooked chicken, cut-up<br />
1 T. flour<br />
1 c. cream (I use milk)<br />
1 c. chicken broth<br />
1/2 lb. American cheese, grated<br />
1/2 t. salt<br />
<br />
Cook macaroni. Make a cream sauce with, flour, butter (about 2 T.), cream and chicken broth. In it, melt cheese. Stir in the cooked macaroni and salt. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.<br />
<br />
<br />
I am a purist when it comes to a few of the ingredients. The first being the chicken stock...I never buy chicken stock. I always make my own. So, this weekend I prepared a chicken and then used the bones to make stock. So easy and so delicious. Another thing that has to be exact is the cheese. Living here in the "Land Of 10,000 Lakes" we have always used Land O' Lakes American Cheese. It melts beautifully and tastes like home. It isn't cheap but I have not found a substitute. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHE_g-0GRKHpV03ihnrYmHqIGYHBNEYTPmvcVPkNtu_7gCSNyShv8OannQGRiWxwxrBuGONFjDqziThgLvqkaWrVwaXrztQAjAw4Uvs_WicVjKA4Ra7H-Sr0zvTlTlhC87vlPz43EVWQVW/s640/blogger-image-390396498.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHE_g-0GRKHpV03ihnrYmHqIGYHBNEYTPmvcVPkNtu_7gCSNyShv8OannQGRiWxwxrBuGONFjDqziThgLvqkaWrVwaXrztQAjAw4Uvs_WicVjKA4Ra7H-Sr0zvTlTlhC87vlPz43EVWQVW/s640/blogger-image-390396498.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE2Hnh2_yLUCjk7EsNZ8vBxjPObXLZLOBzkBCZtfbGjcTS5sMXjA4wlXDO4P3iTaemCFrJob5C6GBDiFHeOvOytSGAynKpevyY8pg3wz7WiMzlJmlXaYVNH3XkT4Fm_EP6KkZeARItOcye/s640/blogger-image--2057427318.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE2Hnh2_yLUCjk7EsNZ8vBxjPObXLZLOBzkBCZtfbGjcTS5sMXjA4wlXDO4P3iTaemCFrJob5C6GBDiFHeOvOytSGAynKpevyY8pg3wz7WiMzlJmlXaYVNH3XkT4Fm_EP6KkZeARItOcye/s640/blogger-image--2057427318.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-70594501511735341672013-03-25T10:57:00.001-05:002013-03-25T10:58:33.395-05:00First Garage Sale Of The SeasonLast week I went to my first garage sale of the season. It was at a church and I didn't find much. i found a great teacup with a rooster on it that will soon become a pincushion. I also found a couple books - one for me and a nature science book for the boys. I am really getting excited for the coming season! Really want the snow to go away!<br />

<br />
Yesterday someone very important to me left this Earth. He was 92 and ready for the next stage...ready to say goodbye to this life for the next. He is my Grandfather. He left behind my Grandmother, 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. All of us are testaments to the lives he and my Grandmother have lived and the lessons, traditions and beliefs they have passed on to us. There is a love for working with our hands. We are lovers of learning and books. We have a deep appreciation for the soil and what it blesses us with. We immerse ourselves in nature and reenergizing our souls with the peace we find there. These lessons, learned and remembered are shared in our collective and individual memories. He is gone but he will never be forgotten. He lives on in each of us as we take all he has taught us and go forward in our lives...each turn of the page, each turn of the spade. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFuFTYd1cI9qn0jOdiTZeqPkydyTLh4eCHR5g3k8dPM4NjooPguIEBLqgSD7l4uG7UNZ3P-F2JqsbX1oVUe6gWHuZOEdNxvwXCP5ib2q44b2_YT-2rMrVWfxi8KCY3SKPMlTc3D7NxPSip/s640/blogger-image-1076950656.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFuFTYd1cI9qn0jOdiTZeqPkydyTLh4eCHR5g3k8dPM4NjooPguIEBLqgSD7l4uG7UNZ3P-F2JqsbX1oVUe6gWHuZOEdNxvwXCP5ib2q44b2_YT-2rMrVWfxi8KCY3SKPMlTc3D7NxPSip/s640/blogger-image-1076950656.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-24768798297706115372013-03-19T16:35:00.003-05:002013-03-19T16:35:33.367-05:00Vacation Images By My 12 Year Old<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Heading for Mesa, AZ to visit my parents and doing a little sightseeing along the way. Highlights of the day were stops along historic Route 66 in Kansas and Oklahoma. The Kansas section may be small (only about 13 miles) but it was wonderful! They are doing so much to restore as much as they can. Here are a few pictures from our day...</div>

I love their wise, peaceful look. The owl was also the symbol of the most influential class I took in college - Paideia, a class all Freshman at my small Iowa college had to attend. We all learned (and suffered :) ) together and I walked away a better student and person.<br />
<br />
I have a small collection of owls...but they have to have just the right feel. This one is perfect!<br />
<br />
He stands 5" tall and has a smooth, glazed body and a fabulous unglazed textured face. He is wonderful! I got him at my favorite thrift store for 19 cents (yep!). I found him online and discovered he was made by a pottery in Maine. I love him and he now has a permanent home on my desk where I can look at him while I work.<br />

It was a sale for a crafter and I found quite a bit of wonderful vintage fabric as well as a few other fun things.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Such fun fabrics! The top fabric is covered in big butterflies and the paisley below it is bright and vibrant. The fabric on the bottom is a fabulous vintage pattern and I can't wait to find just the right project for it.</td></tr>

There is still a lot to do but it really is working well. I need to come up with a better way to store my (huge) collection of fabric and need some more plastic storage containers for my Etsy listings but all will come in time along with a variety of other things. I like to surround my self with items that have meaning. Each has a story. A calendar I had made of some of my handmade's from last year. Pictures and photos from fellow crafters and artists that inspire me. Vintage desk accessories that I can't yet part with. <br />

Feels good to work. Have a couple school breaks coming up so trying to fit in as much as I can now so I can enjoy the days my boys are home for the President's holiday as well as be all set for our family vacation to Arizona come Spring Break time (have a wonderful journal idea planned for the trip - stay tuned!).<br />
<br />
The two bags I finished are made from old vintage feedsacks - one my MIL picked up and the other I picked up at The Thrift Cellar here in town (love that place!).<br />
<br />
The first one is made from a Certified Alfalfa Seed bag. It had a large stain that I was able to work around and for $3.99 I couldn't go wrong!<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The back of the bag...I had to do a little piecing. I try to use as much of the bag as possible across the front and back and sometimes in the pockets. A doily and button from my stash. The straps use the same floral feeddsack from the inside and I had to use some vintage flour sacking from my stash for the other side of the strap. The white's matched so it all worked out.</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The inside of the bag is a lovely vintage floral feedsack (I think - same era at least). One of the blues matches the blue from the front perfectly and the red and green ad great color. There are two pockets - one small and one large. Each made from a bit of the sack that was left and trimmed on top with more of the floral.</td></tr>

Bag #2 came from my mother-in-law and I just LOVE the graphics! This one has been sitting in my stash (not so) patiently waiting for me to find just the right shade of red gingham.<br />

<br />
On almost a daily basis, I dig through my various button boxes and tins looking for just the right button for my current project. It always amazes me how many times I go through it and how often I run across something I don't ever recall seeing before or I run across something I have seen many, many times before but had no use for. This past week I had one of those days. You see, my button containers are mainly filled with buttons but all kinds of other little things make their way in there. This week as I dug for just the right button, I ran across an old key, a brass ring and a button missing it's back loop. A light bulb went off! A pendant in the popular steam-punk style! I took the ring and opened it just enough to slide the key on. I then hot-glued the button on to the key. Wahla! A pendant! I currently don't have a chain that will work but I had some hemp cord that is standing in for now. I love how it turned out! I will be sporting it this coming Thursday night at the <a href="http://remnantsbycarrie.blogspot.com/2013/01/on-agenda.html">Ladies Night</a> event in Dayton.<br />

It has a London double decker bus on it which read "Visit London". Along the sides, the Underground symbol was repeated over and over. Upon seeing it, I just knew it would be a fun tote. And it is! This past week I started it and finally finished it up today. I lined it with red gingham and I love how it all turned out. I used the Underground edges as the straps and the front half of the bus is the front of the bag and the back half the back of the bag. Inside there are pockets on each side divided into 5 compartments. I love when I visualize something at a sale and then actually turn around and make it come to life. So fun! Now if I can do the same for the little items I bought at the thrift store today...we shall see :)! <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy4Tt0ZKnU9peRBB3WeaS3BkJzz7RocqYJjNSIVrTpE3M3Z5AV7BwgEwEMMXjFOEIpuzD4nw7MikLuBkoBO50qYmS6qjrUGbHUBLZdRe3RsFgKzpgGDOKTvzo0fA8s67zSgotnW6E7jtkT/s640/blogger-image-2065210092.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy4Tt0ZKnU9peRBB3WeaS3BkJzz7RocqYJjNSIVrTpE3M3Z5AV7BwgEwEMMXjFOEIpuzD4nw7MikLuBkoBO50qYmS6qjrUGbHUBLZdRe3RsFgKzpgGDOKTvzo0fA8s67zSgotnW6E7jtkT/s640/blogger-image-2065210092.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUQbE4nNMqgBTx9diCaIT_-Hf1iRAq7YijjnzIzwmUAChRZHjZbEXyCPtUAzk4O43fhc9Km5TAU2rWMyCS_9FQnvycJnHWrV3jbZKOwZu_sBeVa73_Hp7-jTeH1ct_pABgIFEY4juobi__/s640/blogger-image--114870856.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUQbE4nNMqgBTx9diCaIT_-Hf1iRAq7YijjnzIzwmUAChRZHjZbEXyCPtUAzk4O43fhc9Km5TAU2rWMyCS_9FQnvycJnHWrV3jbZKOwZu_sBeVa73_Hp7-jTeH1ct_pABgIFEY4juobi__/s640/blogger-image--114870856.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipDPZb-SH99-u7W6aPUAxtvT1JREBaBEFaO685DzJ8u4SAIebrN8JhF1NxgJrRwJQkqbl-79h-gUKdXL8xf5-6eozsuYrIILvPKsML-AijwiEydy_EjMEZD0R3Y9cFSBzmZgtbrLdsEbDj/s640/blogger-image-102725.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipDPZb-SH99-u7W6aPUAxtvT1JREBaBEFaO685DzJ8u4SAIebrN8JhF1NxgJrRwJQkqbl-79h-gUKdXL8xf5-6eozsuYrIILvPKsML-AijwiEydy_EjMEZD0R3Y9cFSBzmZgtbrLdsEbDj/s640/blogger-image-102725.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxRcRrD4jgGY-6jBCbhf3q383s4ep3WiWISgb-QE4sW7xlpNoxu7X5OUSJUkje3DDOZX4kX_1H6byFfMnnT4PHHep-SNbm7cfI87m7viARMwoGYGwN2MdTqy17xBQtWgcQvo8LCN4iUvqw/s640/blogger-image-1379529152.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxRcRrD4jgGY-6jBCbhf3q383s4ep3WiWISgb-QE4sW7xlpNoxu7X5OUSJUkje3DDOZX4kX_1H6byFfMnnT4PHHep-SNbm7cfI87m7viARMwoGYGwN2MdTqy17xBQtWgcQvo8LCN4iUvqw/s640/blogger-image-1379529152.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHNCyegHmChx7mlq0LL1GfvbgHL7Ax1LMV3SG6xz4TJKdXOKgZLeOVsbSVLqkoJI-MfN8SoufWGQn0F4ova5lBdSaqrMiEpjjeW_79ifMnz6cPbAMzaStadm_ebosQGKLyy26oE5WFz2xz/s640/blogger-image-422724854.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHNCyegHmChx7mlq0LL1GfvbgHL7Ax1LMV3SG6xz4TJKdXOKgZLeOVsbSVLqkoJI-MfN8SoufWGQn0F4ova5lBdSaqrMiEpjjeW_79ifMnz6cPbAMzaStadm_ebosQGKLyy26oE5WFz2xz/s640/blogger-image-422724854.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheMvye4dVyJcVL9nVabPUQkzXNYW1mHvqsHadOrQqWi9DEgXElgHam3Z_eSkUixZn2JzKbCfKSKifg5s94q87bYFG-qJLL2OW-nzBlG2e7xdijHN32mRD5s9zLm1hyxR6Ho1tm6P74SsKy/s640/blogger-image-1650910736.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheMvye4dVyJcVL9nVabPUQkzXNYW1mHvqsHadOrQqWi9DEgXElgHam3Z_eSkUixZn2JzKbCfKSKifg5s94q87bYFG-qJLL2OW-nzBlG2e7xdijHN32mRD5s9zLm1hyxR6Ho1tm6P74SsKy/s640/blogger-image-1650910736.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirMsihMu0mqU9gp8KDcMkjnF21MrnXCo-yoz163LyWjMSBccfCtIX_hRjnS7iDUv24zuL87jrYxn77PdjWmQyEIJ-uMN3TDCW-9QsbaGRlZOeHoIgkLtgGpWEoP1E_OFT7oDBzmxM2LB_9/s640/blogger-image--2069853985.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirMsihMu0mqU9gp8KDcMkjnF21MrnXCo-yoz163LyWjMSBccfCtIX_hRjnS7iDUv24zuL87jrYxn77PdjWmQyEIJ-uMN3TDCW-9QsbaGRlZOeHoIgkLtgGpWEoP1E_OFT7oDBzmxM2LB_9/s640/blogger-image--2069853985.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-30168188256712740092013-01-31T08:34:00.001-06:002013-01-31T08:38:03.898-06:00Thrift findsMore thrift finds from January. These were all found at my favorite thrift store. LOVE the puppy table runner. The teacup will become a pin cushion. The other enmbroidery is in perfect condition and am not sure what I will do with it. So many possibilities.<br />
<br />
Tomorrow I am going to make a run up to Elk River and check out a new occassional sale. My MIL and I are looking for a new venue close to home for me. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixpTEDg2petXkm5LLwfLHLMMpKUMBf58SPC6p039xcYOOTyzNtZ8oHlPeGAMecBLRADVKV6ssMue2_o745Z8jQxE3699yA9rvtkfD-Epb141J5Colsr8BfOfotwuF5WQevGgfqJye29xBn/s640/blogger-image-784086427.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixpTEDg2petXkm5LLwfLHLMMpKUMBf58SPC6p039xcYOOTyzNtZ8oHlPeGAMecBLRADVKV6ssMue2_o745Z8jQxE3699yA9rvtkfD-Epb141J5Colsr8BfOfotwuF5WQevGgfqJye29xBn/s640/blogger-image-784086427.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ6WjtGvrf9hBSXTk9TtGyeD3dYyxiE_oEUn-jgbDG766QjcdmYRQri06HtVazjmE67kUgzU8emECG3AD24lsU3td8LUJ7IbilFis_U81slYPRUUAD75xLtcS6MfN4qx8WH17yCrMxLnM4/s640/blogger-image-79398697.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ6WjtGvrf9hBSXTk9TtGyeD3dYyxiE_oEUn-jgbDG766QjcdmYRQri06HtVazjmE67kUgzU8emECG3AD24lsU3td8LUJ7IbilFis_U81slYPRUUAD75xLtcS6MfN4qx8WH17yCrMxLnM4/s640/blogger-image-79398697.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-TX1y7zlBiuSggKhw27C3iG92Vwulj7AFLQVcm-ArShtpHbz-gHvNy5jx7Xmc7uO-uBdFJ8xVyPrXMedX29BXyWPiIfSUdfM9_atUI4EYccalp5211qd61Vd7EK6yuf1IwI_sdD5dBv7x/s640/blogger-image--1859403877.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-TX1y7zlBiuSggKhw27C3iG92Vwulj7AFLQVcm-ArShtpHbz-gHvNy5jx7Xmc7uO-uBdFJ8xVyPrXMedX29BXyWPiIfSUdfM9_atUI4EYccalp5211qd61Vd7EK6yuf1IwI_sdD5dBv7x/s640/blogger-image--1859403877.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIxckHjyg1ibTIS-EasgHlNnknYQg1ZfL50BjmBsjoLN_Gn7Rq1it067Ymmj3_vsBFTjR6DWJRtNzTn5LI_45b0oUP7A0XTYpoFh4p-JCZdKixeGmoko37fGM2aFArkkh7JO8RfuSanhMZ/s640/blogger-image--634913248.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIxckHjyg1ibTIS-EasgHlNnknYQg1ZfL50BjmBsjoLN_Gn7Rq1it067Ymmj3_vsBFTjR6DWJRtNzTn5LI_45b0oUP7A0XTYpoFh4p-JCZdKixeGmoko37fGM2aFArkkh7JO8RfuSanhMZ/s640/blogger-image--634913248.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRiADtWPYNtNeFQJrk48d5RIwqlY2neZV_5jlKbZ8XUOVXTsoqOw16MRC262rdGON3mfkdzAnFidgds6BxYpasMGE4J0ZCQCNcb28NhitUgP7_cfHr0WSSIgxyVMKnPqGsSP3DwG_PoONd/s640/blogger-image-2084996076.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRiADtWPYNtNeFQJrk48d5RIwqlY2neZV_5jlKbZ8XUOVXTsoqOw16MRC262rdGON3mfkdzAnFidgds6BxYpasMGE4J0ZCQCNcb28NhitUgP7_cfHr0WSSIgxyVMKnPqGsSP3DwG_PoONd/s640/blogger-image-2084996076.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-30280602745597039992013-01-30T21:31:00.001-06:002013-01-31T08:38:49.495-06:00January Thrift Find Favorites<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Even though garage sales and estate sale are in-frequent in the harsh months of winter, there are still some to be found...indoor moving or estate sales do happen. Lots of new things listed on Etsy and Ebay and I even opened a store on my business Facebook page where I will be listing a variety of the handmades you see here. <span style="font-size: x-small;">(If you ever see anything that you are interested in buying here just let me know!)</span><br />
<br />
I am also getting quite a bit of sewing done. Yesterday I was able to finish up another bag. This bag was created using a vintage Archer Turkey Feed bag - LOVE the graphic - and a thrifted handmade pillowcase and matching valance (the orange and white gingham). I also dug into my plain feedsack stash to make the backside of the straps, the button loop and the bottom half of the inside pocket.<br />

The inside has pockets on one side (made from a portion of the feedsack) that is divided into 4 compartments.</div>

The next two bags on the cutting table right now. Another feedsack bag featuring a rooster's head and the word's "Chick Starter" - Love It! The other is a bag made from a linen towel with an image of a London double-decker bus. The top and bottom has the Underground symbol repeated and those will become the straps. It will have a red and white gingham lining as will the rooster bag. I really love gingham!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-28584742334556066982013-01-24T12:10:00.001-06:002013-01-24T12:10:57.135-06:00A New BagIt has been awhile since I have made a new bag - well before Christmas if even before Thanksgiving. Yesterday I decided to finally get back in the groove. I gad a bag already partially cut out and during a sleepless night the night before, had planned out the design. I wanted to keep it simple, no doilies or other decorations. I wanted the bag to speak for itself. It was once an old canvas bag. It has some words printed it in black but no graphics. I chose a black and white vintage gingham for the lining, trim on the inside pockets, the button loop and the front of the straps. I took some other canvas I had and turned it into the inside pocket and the back of the straps. The vintage button is from my stash and I covered the button stitching inside with another smaller black button. I am really happy with how it turned out. Today I am working on another bag, this one an Archer turkey feed bag in orange, blue and green with an orange double gingham on the inside. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3aOdS1aWgGDv67OYmXATRk3jBI-GNEj9nrH3MDJvah4rWWEmYHKLqPtUbhdTEJ-kEQLF1fEgpRUL-cudJ1MavmeIC0fm6ePZTu0E_dAyLC0Uwouon00KH-Q2ObnCq8czoRTSIgf1uM7eB/s640/blogger-image-770120322.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3aOdS1aWgGDv67OYmXATRk3jBI-GNEj9nrH3MDJvah4rWWEmYHKLqPtUbhdTEJ-kEQLF1fEgpRUL-cudJ1MavmeIC0fm6ePZTu0E_dAyLC0Uwouon00KH-Q2ObnCq8czoRTSIgf1uM7eB/s640/blogger-image-770120322.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkfJRMX7Vzr3eZ2d1Cf7EY_X9I7-rTzIa4CdNgR_IwagZf_dKqE17J7vCUFfnRHnb74jJ256_-Ur-e-gtNBCP3Cx5XLX6XiPI7VSQ8EGYxIHF12yYdR4BYWatj7k-7Isb8_AfETv6Pswch/s640/blogger-image-630727582.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkfJRMX7Vzr3eZ2d1Cf7EY_X9I7-rTzIa4CdNgR_IwagZf_dKqE17J7vCUFfnRHnb74jJ256_-Ur-e-gtNBCP3Cx5XLX6XiPI7VSQ8EGYxIHF12yYdR4BYWatj7k-7Isb8_AfETv6Pswch/s640/blogger-image-630727582.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2BT8dAxtVjpTZw3uSCyUXG3TMsq8ho55crCo2kApwhJxBJrWNMXBW5z6KrthWJRyiaHr34sn12-DILBbNbuI3HQNpPS3MJ09x8z58UuLxAjsykgPbZo8SkNL_sc92z-e910NHsuApzNzj/s640/blogger-image-1192640356.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2BT8dAxtVjpTZw3uSCyUXG3TMsq8ho55crCo2kApwhJxBJrWNMXBW5z6KrthWJRyiaHr34sn12-DILBbNbuI3HQNpPS3MJ09x8z58UuLxAjsykgPbZo8SkNL_sc92z-e910NHsuApzNzj/s640/blogger-image-1192640356.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNQdF0Hfnx9Bl1rGJC7Lfmgksn5B1Q9_YLaLcJrWCu1ZmW0GEG4Doku-bKZfSV_BIou8u6Jy1mAlhnJk4HxrZWuCq5Z5-N02zZr6NR0fU0XNkxVjL1U2lBnUouGuTuiQtygczE8sGHiiIR/s640/blogger-image-526793123.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNQdF0Hfnx9Bl1rGJC7Lfmgksn5B1Q9_YLaLcJrWCu1ZmW0GEG4Doku-bKZfSV_BIou8u6Jy1mAlhnJk4HxrZWuCq5Z5-N02zZr6NR0fU0XNkxVjL1U2lBnUouGuTuiQtygczE8sGHiiIR/s640/blogger-image-526793123.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4mw_fExXMnLD8UwXfe1cACu5CMrfMuB3g-H1P2my0UyKhGc4FCJ-d-5wHJegcYfAcMRV4NgxVAxQCPI8ZeS56o4JGsQpDPxrtbrRXMr51wEE-4bdMsQk7KYomt_iwMR-G_MOTdW7kr9pG/s640/blogger-image--477526432.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4mw_fExXMnLD8UwXfe1cACu5CMrfMuB3g-H1P2my0UyKhGc4FCJ-d-5wHJegcYfAcMRV4NgxVAxQCPI8ZeS56o4JGsQpDPxrtbrRXMr51wEE-4bdMsQk7KYomt_iwMR-G_MOTdW7kr9pG/s640/blogger-image--477526432.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1173371893020536664.post-51481136932846821982013-01-23T16:52:00.001-06:002013-01-23T16:52:53.086-06:00More Hearts!Here are my newest pin cushions! Two of them are in old heart shaped tart tins. The one with the roses and musical notes once upon a time was an old apron and the other was an old table runner (same runner I used to make one of the heart sachets). The other pincushion I made using a fabulous little Roman style urn I found at a thrift store (The Thrift Cellar in Anoka, MN - great new thrift store open once a month). The fabulous fabric was once upon a time a napkin. I love how they look like they belong together! <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWyQVK1OVze3TlPth16m1G_eqX37bVRdksdns75meD8vTCiPEViFu-qfPeyBRYTjip47A-j17JvSDHGAaMMNLFMj8AqWqhGHE8EgOkppp5OncbhxBUqLtfKvWNiRHdz3hnNlyNPh6RkX5n/s640/blogger-image--868763568.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWyQVK1OVze3TlPth16m1G_eqX37bVRdksdns75meD8vTCiPEViFu-qfPeyBRYTjip47A-j17JvSDHGAaMMNLFMj8AqWqhGHE8EgOkppp5OncbhxBUqLtfKvWNiRHdz3hnNlyNPh6RkX5n/s640/blogger-image--868763568.jpg" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03035944430893227057noreply@blogger.com0
